*I have transparencies, can I check out a Transparency Overhead Projector?

No – we do not stock these. Our Document Cameras will display your transparencies just fine. The only adjustment you may have to make is to move the camera head to reduce glare.

*I need a laser pointer; do you have one I can check out?

No - these are purchased through faculty research funds or are personally owned.

*I need a remote clicker (wireless mouse); do you have one I can check out?

No – like laser pointers, these are purchased through faculty research funds or are personally owned.

*Can I check out an easel?

No - JGS A/V does not have an easels available for checkout. Please check with your faculty assistant for this equipment.

*How soon should I reserve equipment for my class/event?

As soon as you book your event. The earlier you let us know, the less likely there will be issues (i.e unavailable equipment, or equipment that doesn't meet your exact needs, etc). Please use this link to check what equipment is currently located in your event venue. If you need additional equipment, please see the checkout page.

*Can we webcast our event?

Webcasting can only originate from the Shell Auditorium at this time. There is a fee charged by the University for this service. Please contact JGS A/V for more information..

*Can we Videoconference in the building?

Yes – there are locations for Videoconferencing – contact JGS A/V for more information.

*Can we Audio Conference (telephone) in the building?

Yes – there are locations already setup and there is a portable system you can check out – contact JGS A/V for more information.

*What is the difference between Video Conferencing and Web Casting?

Video Conferencing requires both locations to have similar specialized video equipment, where as web casting only requires the sending location to have video (and internet encoding) equipment, and the viewer only needs a web browser and internet connection.

*Can you make copies of my DVDs?

Yes – we can make limited copies of your DVDs. You will need to provide the blank discs. Keep in mind; they need to relate directly to classes and activities of the Jones Graduate School – not your Aunt Mary’s 70th Birthday party! You also must provide proper copyright clearance when necessary. See the services page for more information.

*Can you convert my VHS tape to DVD?

Yes – we can convert VHS content to DVD. The same information above applies here. You will need to provide the blank discs. Keep in mind; they need to relate directly to classes and activities of the Jones Graduate School – not your Aunt Mary’s 70th Birthday party! *Can you burn a DVD for me?

Yes – we can burn an original DVD for you! We also can duplicate your newly mastered DVD! . For more information, please see the services page.

*Can you burn a Music CD for me?

Depends - we are unable to convert from records or cassettes, but if the music is already digital, we can..

*Can we play “home-burned” DVDs in the building?

Yes and No – the Student and A/V Checkout Laptops, classroom PCs, DVD Players in the Commons areas and the Classroom DVD players have been confirmed to play DVD –R disks. There is a format difference DVD –R, DVD +R, DVD+RW, and DVD-RW and all will not play in all machines.

*I need to view a Cable TV Channel during my class, what do I need to do?
