RASA General Meeting Minutes (9/24/09)
I. Every one introduced themselves
II. Started discussing movies for the RASA movie night
a. Email Siju and Haruka movie suggestions
b. Movie will be on Fri, Oct 16 or 23rd starting at around dinner time – email Siju/Haruka with preferred date
III. Voted on T-shirts of polos
a. T-shirts won!!!
b. Debated the colors of the shirt…some suggestions : color of the Ghanaian flag, red, green, black, and yellow...purple was also mentioned..
c. Some questions, which type of green? Send suggestions to Siju and Haruka
d. Next Friday, submit designs for shirt , if design is chosen, you can get your shirt for FREE
IV. Cookout
a. Aisha is the cook out coordinator…would like to make the show part bigger…possibly members of RASA can do a dance? Tentatively looking for cooks
b. Sign ups for cooking for the cook out
c. Sign ups for the banner
V. Need to start fundraising this semester, sell baked goods in October and November
a. Sign ups for bakers and sellers
VI. Africa Interest Committee
a. Once every few months people who had any interest in Africa meet to discuss different needs of African students on campus or talk about how things are going in Africa .Always food and you get to meet more Africans, including grad students.
b. Shooting for 200 people to come for the African cook-out
VII. Pay dues to Jacob and Boahemma
a. Any suggestions for cookout—Africa influenced cultures represented=Brazil and capaeira?
