Located at 6100 Main Street in Houston, Texas, Rice University is a small, private research university with a distinguished reputation and a beautiful campus.

March 7 - 9, 2002 (Azalea Trail time in Houston) 

Fees
$180 professionals / $45 students and retired registration fee. Registration fee covers: Catered box lunches on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Reception on Thursday evening, refreshments during the conference, bus transportation to Foto Fest, and all conference materials.

Alley Theater

Azalea Trail
The River Oaks Garden Club will be holding its 67th Annual Azalea Trail in March 2002. This tour of private homes and gardens is scheduled when azaleas are at their peak. Tour times for the 2002 Trail are TBA. For more information or to take a virtual tour, visit http://www.riveroaksgardenclub.org.

Enron Field
Enron Field, the Houston Astros' new ballpark, which features a retractable roof, is located in downtown Houston. Walking tours of Enron Field are scheduled at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m. on Saturdays during the offseason (Oct-March). The tours last approximately an hour and involve lots of walking and climbing (over a mile). Houston Ballet
Performances of the Houston Ballet's production of Cleopatra are scheduled for Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9. Both performances will be held in the Brown Theater (510 Preston St.) in downtown Houston and begin at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from $11.50 to $101.50. Houston Grand Opera

Frankle McBride will be performing with the Houston Symphony at Jones Hall on Saturday, March 9, 2002 at 10 a.m. Tickets are not yet on sale. Main Street Theater 
Main Street Theater, the only theater in the Rice Village, seats 92 individuals, and thus has an intimate playing style, with little space separating the actors from the audience. Main Street Theater at Chelsea Market is roomier with 190 seats; both feature youth theater, MainStage classics, and musicals. The 2002 season is TBA. Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
Located in the Museum District less than 5 minutes from Rice University, MFAH features exhibits in two museum buildings. Exhibits scheduled during March 2002 include a Louis Faurer Retrospective (1/20-4/14/02), Richard Pousette-Dart: Timeless Perspective, Works on Paper, 1930-1992 (1/20-3/31/02), and Post-War Italian Photography (2/2-4/28/02). Rice Village
Comprised of over 370 shops and over 70 restaurants in 14 square blocks just west of Rice University, the Village is a great ace to explore on foot. If all that window shopping and walking works up your appetite, restaurants serving a wide variety of food - from Cuban to Thai - abound. Two of Rice students' favorite hangouts are located in the Village: the Ginger Man (G-Man to the locals), an indoor/outdoor bar featuring countless beers from around the world, and Half-Price Books, the book-lover's paradise. The Port of Houston
The Port of Houston is a 25 mile-long complex of private and public facilities located on the Houston Ship Channel. Visitors can take tours of the ship channel on the Sam Houston, a small tour boat. Tours are free and held Tuesday-Sunday. The boat, which can accommodate tour groups of up to 45 people, runs at 10 and 2:30 on Saturdays. For general information, visit http://www.portofhouston.com.
