Wildlife Page

The Texas coastal wetlands are one of the most important migration areas in all of North America for waterfowl that use the Central and Mississippi migratory flyways.  A variety of birds such as the bald eagle, peregrine falcon, whooping crane, and pelican all depend on the Texas coastal wetlands for food.  More than fifty percent of migratory birds depend on wetlands for nesting and wintering spots.  Texas wetlands play host for three to five million birds each year.
