As we all know, too many undergraduates get lost between the cracks in their university departments. The purpose of the Rice Undergraduate History Majors Society is to bridge the gap between undergraduate history majors and the Rice History Department (both the staff and faculty). We hope that by working to improve the interaction between the students and the department, the undergraduate experience at Rice University can be much more interesting and enjoyable for everyone involved. Not to mention that this organization is a great way to start networking recommendation letters!
- Study breaks:
A great way to relax, eat some food, and have fun! Several are held throughout the year.- Department policy recommendations:
Several of our members sit on the History department's Undergraduate Commitee, where they discuss and implement ways to improve professor-student interaction.- Distribute information to History majors:
We distribute all sorts of information, usually via email that may be of interest to history majors. For instance, job and internship opportunities, available scholarship and fellowship, upcoming events at Rice, etc. See our Web Resources Page.- Tutoring and Papers:
We provide writing workshops, tutoring sessions, and review sessions.
