Marta Haile, President

Marta graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1998 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.  She worked for BP Amoco for four years as a maintenance engineer, project engineer, and unit budget analyst.  Her focus at the Jones Graduate School is finance.  This summer Marta worked for El Paso – Merchant Energy Group in the Valuation and Analysis Group.  Specifically, she worked in the Power Group working on reconciling asset models and restructuring deals.  Marta's hobbies are reading and traveling. 

 

Tracie Hall, VP of Events

Tracie received her Bachelor of Art from Rice University and her Master of Science from Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to business school she worked as a management consultant and progressed through a variety of human resources responsibilities and leadership for Fortune 500 and early stage companies. In summer of 2002, she completed her internship with Bionexus Ventures in Houston, Texas where she was responsible for new business development and valuating and assessing the market potential pipeline company products and ideas. Tracie is currently studying Strategic Management at the Jones School.

 

Millicent Hawkins, VP of Conference

Millicent received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Financial Economics from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. Before starting her studies at the Jones School, she worked as a financial analyst for a cable wire manufacturer in Atlanta, Georgia and a financial transaction processing company in Nashville. Her responsibilities included developing financial models for profitability and cash flow analyses, assisting in the implementation and management of a major total quality management program, and providing operational and financial analyses for various business units. In summer of 2002, she completed her internship with Darden Restaurants in Orlando, Florida as a financial analyst within the Red Lobster division where she worked on projects including bar remodel analysis, new restaurant performance analysis, and value-based measurement implementation for the restaurants. Millicent is currently studying Finance and Operations Management at the Jones School.

Carla Pagotto, VP of Alumni Relations

Carla holds a B.A. in History and in Philosophy from the University of Michigan.  Her concentration in the MBA program is business development and marketing.  Prior to attending the Jones School, Carla worked for Travelers Insurance for eight years in environmental claims and litigation management. By working closely with defense counsels and company representatives, she developed and implemented defense strategies for many policyholders in order to minimize their risks and to limit potentially adverse exposures.  Carla was a summer intern at Tympany, Inc., a start-up medical equipment company, where she had multiple responsibilities including the development of Tympany’s B2B marketing collateral (brochure, website and flash demo).  She enjoys traveling, hiking, cooking, and volunteering with various non-profit organizations.

 

Kimberly Spraggins, VP of Career Development

Kimberly graduated from Southern University in 1996 with a degree in mechanical engineering.  She worked for BP Amoco for nearly five years as a project engineer, unit budget analyst, reliability engineer and turnaround lead.  Her focus at the Jones Graduate School is marketing and this summer, she had the opportunity to work for Shell Chemicals in the commercial/marketing development group. There, Kimberly put together a market entry strategy for one of the chemicals divisions and completed a situational analysis for the lubricants group.  Kimberly enjoy reading, traveling and she is an active member of her sorority where she serve as a local officer and youth group sponsor.

Chad Wetmore, VP of Gender Relations

Chad received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of San Diego. Prior to coming to Rice, Chad spent almost four years with Merrill Lynch in the Business Financial Group: Merrill’s middle market, senior debt and advisory group.  His duties included developing and analyzing privately held companies to form debt relationships and providing Merger and Acquisition advisory services.  Before working at Merrill Lynch, he was an AVP with Sanwa Bank California for the syndication desk and worked at the capital markets desk.  Chad is a native Houstonian and is very active in the community; currently he is on the board of the Alley Theatre serving as its Treasurer. 

 

Masumi McLaren, VP of Web Development

Masumi received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of St. Thomas in Mathematics.  Her focus in the MBA program is information technology and operations.  Before coming to Rice, she spent two years at Texaco Group, Inc in Global Information Services, Texaco’s information technology division.  She started her career at Texaco developing and analyzing performance metrics and negotiating with IBM Global Services. After successful negotiations, her role was expanded to include developing processes and procedures for information technology services.  She was promoted to Problem Process Manager where she continued developing and managing Texaco’s relationship with IBM Global Services. Masumi was a summer intern at HEB where she developed communication plans, expanded HEB's SLA program, and enhanced HEB's tools for resource allocation and project management. Masumi is a native Houstonian and is very active in volunteering; currently she volunteers her time to Texas Children’s Hospital.
