ROCK ART AT RICE

Rock art at Rice is an introduction to prehistoric and historic rock art with an emphasis on pictographs (paintings) and petroglyphs (engravings) found in the southwest and western United States. This web site serves primarily as a resource for those interested in the archaeological artifact labeled “rock art”. It is a teaching device for an undergraduate course and remains a work in progress. This site provides links to other sites containing data and interpretive information.

Our hope is to engage interested readers in the oldest art form. We welcome comments and suggestions from all those interested in rock art and particularly those involved in public education and preservation of sites.

NOTE: Rock art at Rice contains many images. These images are covered by copyright regulations. Requests for any use of the images or for further information should be directed to Patricia Bass E-mail
