Thursday, February 11 -- Lecture: Some Unexpected Limits on Scientific Knowledge -- James T. Cushing; sponsored by Center for Cultures (4:00 PM, Sewall Hall 307)

February 15 -- Ronald L. Numbers, Department of the History of Medicine from University of Wisconsin -- Discussion of: Darwin Comes to America (paper to be made available ahead of time) (4pm 123 Biology (Anderson Labs))

February ? -- Kathy Ensor will confirm date for Joel Schwartz. She will try to coordinate with the Environmental Club (Mike Ford, Jessica Cohen, and Maria Stalford). She would like to arrange for 4pm on a Monday since this is a good departmental colloquium time.

March 4 -- Lecture: Environmental Ethics and Ecological Science , J. Baird Callicott (4:00 PM, Sewall Hall 309)

Paul Harcombe indicated that EEB and EPSC will jointly sponsor Callicott.

March 15 -- Deadline for application for Biosphere 2 stipend for Summer 1999 (June 7 - August 13, 1999). Notification of awards will be made by April 1. Intend to select 10 interns and 2 alternates.   • Summer Field School I: Encountering Ecosystems: Field Studies in Past, Present & Future Biospheres 6 weeks / 6 credits (Summer 99 June 7th - July 16th)
  • Summer Field School II: Ecological Stewardship 4 weeks / 4 credits (Summer 99 July 26th -August 20th)
