The need for unity and cooperation among Muslims is felt more strongly now than ever before. We must teach by example, not empty words and promises. This requires an organization that lives and operates in conformity with the Islamic way of life, and strives hard toward making Islam better understood by all. The Muslim Students' Association of Rice University is working diligently to fulfill this need.
In this effort, the Rice MSA hosts several events throughout the year, which can be either religious, social, or service oriented in nature. Some of our recurring events include weekly Jum'ah prayers, iftaars during the month of Ramadan, an annual Ramadan Fast-A-Thon, and various volunteering activities in and around the Houston community. In the past, the MSA has also delivered Eid gifts to Muslim refugee children from Afghanistan and Hurricane Katrina, organized a forum and a petition condemning the violence against Muslims in the Gujarat province of India, sponsored fundraising activities for the victims of the South Asia Earthquake, and hosted a variety of Dawa'ah events in cooperation with other organizations around the Rice University Campus.
The MSA is always looking for new members, new ideas, and new faces. If you want to know how you can get involved, email us . We'll be happy to hear from you! |
