(WRAP)

This is the heading for my initiative to reduce the waste output of Rice, with a preference for reapplying our waste in a useful form (such as composting or both recycling and buying recycled).

It is based on the three R's:

• Reduce - reducing the amount of waste thrown away on a daily basis
• Reuse - reusing items several times (when possible) before recycling or disposing
• Recycle - recycling all items that are accepted by local recycling centers or can be managed on campus

    The first and major project for WRAP, which falls under the Recycling heading, is the Composting Pilot Project.  In this project, we will recycle foodwaste and yardwaste into a useable form, compost, thus closing the loop and making Rice more self-sufficient. If we can manage the addition of disposable paper hand towels from the restrooms, this will further recycle our solid waste stream.
