Into the Ride
I missed taking a photo of the start of the ride so here are some riders
on Harlem after crossing the tracks from Hwy 90. We got across right before
a train blasted by. |
First Rest Stop
The first rest stop on the ride; brownies, bananas, and Gatorade. Getting
windy, a constant theme on this ride. |
Grant Hiding
I was trying to get a shot of Grant, hiding behind the rider who is getting
some Gatorade. I know Grant from Church. |
After the 1st Stop
The countryside after the 1st stop. I have no idea what road we were on;
I was just following the signs. |
2nd Rest Stop
The 2nd rest stop was on FM 359 across the street from the huge Hines Nursery
lots. |
Cars Passing By
A car or two passed us on Bois D'Arc off of FM 1093. |
Foster High 3rd Rest Stop
At the 3rd rest stop the EMT washed off my road rash (I sat in the blue
foldable chair on the far left) with water and I carbed up on brownies,
cake, and Gatorade. |
Water Line, Foster High
In this shot you can see the water line on the left and Foster High School
on the right. |
Road Rash
A bird's eye view of my road rash; the big wound on my knee is not visible
in this shot. |
Farm Art
Across from the Swinging Door on FM 359 in Richmond was a field full of
welded sculptures. I got this photo of a couple of them. |
4th Rest Stop
The 4th rest stop was at a Kids R Rids on Farmer. We had experienced some
pretty good headwinds by now; I was thinking that we didn't really need
a 5th rest stop after this but I didn't know how rough it would be. |
Headwind on 99
The stretch of Hwy 99 back to New Territory Blvd. was all under a tough
headwind. I could barely get 9-11 mph whereas before I was easily going
20-22 mph. |
5th Rest Stop UH-SL
After facing the headwind for miles along 99 and over the University Blvd.
overpass, the 5th rest stop on the UH Sugar Land campus was welcome. It
was hard to get back on the bike but the finish line was close. |
UH-SL Building
The UH Sugar Land Building; the parking lot was not real full on Saturday
morning. |
James Coney Hot Dog Stand
After reaching the finish line I had 3 chili cheese dogs from James Coney.
Yum! |
Coke on tap!
After the hot dogs I had my first real Coke since September 6th, 2003. |
Bike and Dog
My daughter took this photo of me after I got home. I had to hold our dog
so he would not jump up on my road rash leg. |
Bike and Dog 2
I thought the road rash on my right leg would show up better but you can't
really see it here. |
