Shepherd Careers Forum Participants

Arrival and Departure Times
The Forum will begin on Friday, October 12, with participants gathering at the school around 5:00 p.m.. The opening welcome will be at 5:30 p.m. The Forum will finish on Sunday, October 14, at 4:00 p.m.

Make arrangements for your flight to arrive on Friday
Please make arrangements for your flight to arrive on Friday in the 1:00 p.m. range. This is due to the distance from Bush Intercontinental Airport to the Hilton Houston Plaza/Medical Center, and the likelihood of traffic problems on a Friday afternoon. It also allows enough time for late flights, to retrieve baggage and catch a shuttle or cab to the hotel. Houston Hobby Airport is closer to the hotel and the school, and if you are arriving at Hobby you won't need to allow as much travel time.

Transportation from the airport to the hotel
A cab from IAH (Bush Intercontinental Airport) will cost about $50.00+ each way. The fare from Hobby airport will be less. For general information about taxi service, visit: http://www.yellowcabhouston.com

Yellow Cab Houston has information on ordering a town car, and provides information on fares to and from the airports. Choose IAH or HOU as your airport and choose Hilton Plaza as your hotel.

SuperShuttle is a service that uses vans holding up to 10 people plus luggage. You can access information about this service at: http://www.supershuttle.com

Hilton Houston Plaza/Medical Center
Check-in time at the Hilton Houston Plaza/Medical Center is anytime after 3:00 p.m. We will provide transportation from the Hilton to the Shepherd School.

Rooms for student participants are double occupancy (Double Suite) and are paid for by Rice University.

The Hilton is holding single rooms (Standard King) for our faculty/staff participants at a rate of $99.00 per night, and these reservations need to  be confirmed by calling the Hilton at 800-445-8667. Mention our group code: SSM to get the group rate. You will need to give a credit card number to guarantee the reservation.

We have scheduled an important showcase performance and workshop on Friday evening, so it is crucial that everyone be present for the beginning of the forum.
