Bahman Anvari, PhD

Dr. Anvari joined the Bioengineering Department in 1998, where he is currently an associate professor. Prior to his appointment at Rice, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Beckman Laser Institute and Medical Clinic at the University of California, Irvine, and later a Research Assistant Professor of Engineering at Harvey Mudd College. His scientific interests include the use of optical techniques to study cellular electromechanics as well as optically based methods for diagnosis and therapy.

Dr. Anvari's research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, and the Whitaker Foundation. He is a member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, the Biomedical Engineering Society, the International Society for Optical Engineering, and Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.
