NILA

    The National Institute for Leadership Advancement (NILA) is the premier leadership training event for SHPE. Since its inception in 1986, NILA has grown to become an event widely anticipated by members and highly respected by corporate sponsors. NILA is unique as SHPE is one of only a few organizations of its kind to offer leadership training to members. NILA’s agenda provides leadership training to newly-elected student and professional chapter presidents and officers.

The intense four-day program includes:
• Interactive workshops on group dynamics, team building, goal setting, strategic planning, project management and more
• Seminars led by experienced pros covering different perspectives on technical, social, political and educational issues
• Hands-on activities designed to motivate and empower leaders, which lead to tips on thinking “outside the box” and implementing change
• Networking with other SHPE chapter officers to share ideas and best practices
• Team case study projects focusing on ethical issues allow participants to utilize tools learned throughout NILA culminating in a formal presentation
• Learning how to make the most of all the benefits available to you through SHPE, your universities, partnering professional chapters and surrounding communities
