At the beginning of my program we traveled around Spain, and one of the places we visited was this castle on top of a hill surrounded by fields. The castle itself was flanked by a line of windmills-the famous windmills of Don Quijote. That part of the book was based on this castle, and from a distance the windmills do actually appear to be guarding the castle. We got to tour one of the windmills and there was an old man from the nearby village who walked up the hill to sell us woven baskets, but the touristy aspect did not ruin the feeling of stepping into a book, into another world. I tried to capture that feeling in this photograph.
