2nd Annual Study Abroad Photo Contest
Spring 2001
Now in its second year, the Study Abroad Photo Contest is designed to offer Rice students an opportunity to share their study abroad experiences with the Rice community. As the number of Rice students studying abroad continues to increase exponentially, the contest and exhibit become an important avenue for these students to relate the experiences they've had and the resulting changes they've undergone. Many of these intangibles can be particularly difficult to articulate to those back home, but as the cliché states, "A picture is worth a thousand words." In taking the time to enjoy this exhibit, you will clearly see that our students have a lot to say.
Nearly 200 entries were submitted this year, the quality of which were even more impressive than last year's. Those displayed were judged to be among the best. Those not honored this year are still commended for their participation, without which this contest would not have been possible.

Sponsorship
Once again, Council Travel aided the Office of International Programs in this endeavor by generously providing some of the prizes. This year's Best of Show recipient won a 6-night tour of England, Belgium, France and the Netherlands. 2nd and 3rd Place winners recieved $400 and $200 Council Travel Gift Certificates, respectively, and this year's Runner Up recipients took home travel gear as prizes. Council Travel's generous sponsorship is greatly appreciated, as no contest would be quite as fun without prizes.
