Sally Boss is one of the founders of Sarmatian Review and a former contributor to the Paris Kultura and other publications.

Anna Cienciala is Professor of History at the University of Kansas and author of a Web-based annotated bibliography of sources dealing with Eastern Europe, Select English language works on the history of Eastern Europe (Lawrence, KS: Univ. of Kansas Press, 2000).

Zofia Ptasnik (1890-1941) was a Polish housewife deported to slave labor in Kazakhstan by the Soviets. Within a year, she died of malnutrition and excessive physical labor.

Harold B. Segel is Professor Emeritus of Slavic Languages and Literatures at Columbia University and a noted lecturer and author. His most recent book is the Columbia Guide to the Literatures of Eastern Europe including East Germany after 1945 (forthcoming in July 2002 from Columbia University Press).
