Barca (Boat) This modified design of a fishing boat was used by Gil Eannes to round the Bulging Cape (Cape Bojador) in 1434. Barcas were used as far south as Cabo Branco (reached in 1440). After 1441 exploratory voyages were made in caravels. See the different South Atlantic ranges of boats used for exploration.
