Fast Warp - Gamedays

Gamedays

Warp gamedays are our ~monthly meetings at which we gather in a reportedly organized fashion, game, and hold related events. We have lots of room, supplies, a gaming library, and we also make available sodas and bags of chips for a fifty cents apiece. We meet in Sewall Hall, room 207.

Gameday Scheduled for November 5, 2005

Events

To be determined!

We're working on updating things and organizing ourselves to provide current information. In the meantime, bear with us and just show up in Sewell Hall, 4th floor. We'll take over as much as we can!

[All Day] - Open Gaming!
As always, the FastWarp game locker will be open for everyone's use, so come on out and try a few of our favorite board and card games.

To keep you fueled during these activities, chips and sodas will be on sale at the low, low price of 50 cents each, so don't forget your wallet!

Finally, officer elections will be happening in March, so any Rice student (undergrad, grad, post-doc) interested in fulfilling one of the officer positions is encouraged to talk to our current officers about their tasks. For reference, your FastWarp officers are: President - Tim Gilheart, Vice- President - Michael Friedman, Treasurer - Bob Billingsley, and OwlCon Coordinator - Michael Casavant.

Remember, FastWarp officers do not necessarily have to be involved with OwlCon; the OwlCon Coordinator is simply a liaison position for the sake of easy communication. I will be present all day at Sunday's gameday, so if you Rice students on the list have any interest at all in becoming a FastWarp officer, please feel free to talk to me about it.

And as always, the game library will be open for your use!

Upcoming Special Gameday Events

Playing Level of Intended Audience
Beginner: a complete novice can play the game.  Such a game will include the fine details that many more experienced players don't want to mess with.  For example, a fantasy game would include the ubiquitous tavern gathering and interacting with the bartender and such.  Such sessions are intended to recruit and educate would be players.  These sessions are great fun and do a great service for the hobby.  The Director of the con is very eager to have these.
Intermediate: If you just played in a Beginner session, you could probably handle it, but this adventure is more suited to people that understand the basics of the game fully and want to get right to the meat of the game.  This will probably be the majority of the games played.
Advanced: You have played the game a lot.  You know the nuances and have an opinion or house rule for a lot of the game mechanics.  You're jaded, you've seen it all, you're looking for something new and challenging.  We do not want a lot of these at OwlCon, but a few would be nice.

Some games require a quiet room to allow a "mood" to be established, e.g. most horror games. What do you need?
