Since 1916, the Rice Thresher has been the official student newspaper of Rice University. The Thresher is published each Friday during the school year, except during examination periods and holidays, by the students of Rice University.
The Thresher is an independent publication with news, sports, arts & entertainment and opinion sections. All editorial and business positions are held by current students, with the editor in chief elected by the student body each spring. The Thresher is funded through student blanket tax fees, advertising and subscriptions, and the first copy is free to all students, faculty and staff, as well as members of the surrounding community.
