The clubs listed below fall into the following categories:

STUDENT ASSOCIATION & GRADUATE STUDENT ASSOCIATION AFFILIATE ORGANIZATIONS
Affiliate organizations include those societies, clubs or the like which are formed because of the special interest of any particular group of students. All undergraduate affiliate organizations should follow the Student Association By-laws with regard to their establishment and organization. Graduate student organizations shall similarly follow the Graduate Student Association By-laws. Except for departmental organizations (i.e. honor societies), which may be funded by a department, and club sports, which may receive partial funding from the Club Sports budget, affiliate student organizations are not funded by the university on a yearly basis.

BLANKET TAX ORGANIZATIONS
Blanket Tax Organizations operate in essentially the same way as affiliate organizations, but they are funded in part by blanket taxes charged to students.

University Organizations are institutionalized organizations for students that receive funding directly from the university, and which are coordinated or directed by University staff.

Registration for established affiliate and blanket tax organizations takes place in the Fall, after the beginning of classes and no later than 5 PM, October 1. Clubs not registered by the deadline will have the privileges and benefits of registered clubs suspended until registration is completed. Sports clubs not registered by the deadline are not eligible to receive funding from the Club Sports Committee.

Established affiliate and blanket tax organizations must register EVERY YEAR.

  • AGAPE CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) is dedicated to honoring God and helping each other to become Christ-centered laborers, people who seek to bring honor to God through whatever we do. Come fellowship, worship, and grow with us.

  • AMERICAN RED CROSS OF RICE UNIVERSITY is a humanitarian organization led by volunteers that empowers individuals to take control of their health and wellness through medical training services and provides relief to victims of disasters.

  • AMERICAN SOCIETY OF CIVIL ENGINEERS (ASCE) promotes civil engineering as a course of study and ultimately a profession to the students of Rice University. We sponsor club meetings with possible employers and concerning other topics relevant to the civil engineering discipline. We also perform various community service projects and social events, such as Habitat for Humanity and our civil and environmental engineering softball team.

  • AMERICAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS (ASME) works with employers to bring professional mechanical engineers to Rice to speak to undergraduates. ASME also organizes study breaks, trips, and activities for mechanical engineers at Rice.

  • AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL seeks to increase awareness on campus regarding human rights abuses and encourages Rice students to campaign for physical and mental integrity, freedom of conscience and expression, and freedom from discrimination for peoples everywhere.

  • ARCHI ARTS organizes the Archi Arts costume party, held off campus in early spring every year, each time with a different theme. Second-year undergraduate architecture students help plan and stage this event.

  • ARCHITECTURE SOCIETY @ RICE is the student organization of the Rice School of Architecture. The main goal of the ASR is to foster interaction and collaboration within the school by improving communication. The ASR focuses on developing solutions instead of just identifying issues.

  • BAYLOR-RICE CONSULTING AND ETREPRENEURIAL CORPS is an organization "for the students, by the students", open to all interested grduate students, medical students and post-doctoral fellows from the Texas Medical Center institutions and Rice University. This mission of the club is to bridge the gap between graduate experience and the industrial world.

  • BEST BUDDIES is an international organization that works to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. The purpose is to facilitate friendships between students and persons with intellectual disabilities from the Center for the Retarded (CRI) through one-to-one matches and group outings.

  • BHANGRA TEAM, also known as Chowl Bhangra, is a national competing team that performs the traditional dance of bhangra. Bhangra is from a northern state of India called Punjab.

  • BIOLOGICAL JOURNAL, RICE UNDERGRADUATE CLUB is a group of students interested in the forefront of scientific research. We discuss current biological articles and topics in a fun, laidback setting.

  • BIOLOGY - RICE UNIVERSITY SYNTHETIC BIOLOGY CLUB In addition to providing a forum and opportunities to discuss the science and ethics of synthetic biology, the Rice University Synthetic Biology Club will provide support for Rice University‚s participation on the international Genetically Engineered Machine competition We hope to generate interest in synthetic biology in the student population of Rice University by sponsoring notable outside speakers and start discussions on the science and ethics of synthetic biology.

  • CANTERBURY is the Episcopal Church's ministry to the Rice campus and the schools of the Texas Medical Center. We meet every week for worship and fellowship.

  • CARIBBEAN STUDENT SOCIETY aims to bring together both Caribbean students and members of the Rice community interested in the Caribbean, in order to share the various rich cultures of the Caribbean represented on campus with the Rice community. Our focus this year is to start new annual events, raise awareness about issues that affect the Caribbean, and do fundraising for our newly established Disaster Relief Fund.   • CYCLING TEAM Rice University Cycling Team (RUCT) was created to promote cycling as a recreational activity and a competitive sport at Rice University. The team organizes weekly recreational and training rides for cyclists of all levels and participates in cycling related community events. This coming school year, the team will compete against other collegiate cycling teams in the South Central Collegiate Cycling Conference under the governance of the National Collegiate Cycling Association

  • DANCE - RICE DANCE MARATHON is entirely student-run. Rice University Dance Marathon is an annual 12-hour event fundraiser whose proceeds go directly to Texas Children's Hospital. By connecting the families and staff of Texas Children's Hospital and Rice students Rice University Dance Marathon gives Rice students the opportunity to help stage an event do acts of philanthropy and enjoy 12 hours of entertainment.

  • DANCE - RICE DANCE THEATRE (RDT) is a student organization that promotes modern dance. Auditions are usually held at the start of each semester for dancers to perform in a concert held near the end of that semester. Students are involved in all aspects of the concert, including stage managing, sound managing, box office, program design, and advertising, in addition to choreographing for and dancing in the performances.

  • DANCE - SALSEROS is dedicated to teaching salsa dance to Rice students, affiliates, and Houston community members. We have weekly lessons, regularly attend salsa clubs and socials, and will have a couple of (optional) performances.

  • ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB promotes education and awareness, advocates sustainable development, and initiates environmental programming on campus.   • EQUESTRIAN CLUB is active in intercollegiate horse shows in both English and western divisions. We are open to riders of all levels.

  • FAST WARP is a club for all students interested in any form of gaming, from board and card games to tabletop roleplaying games to electronic games. We meet once every two weeks to play games in a relaxed, low-key setting. We are also the club responsible for putting on OwlCon, Rice's annual gaming convention.

  • GREEN BUILDING INITIATIVE, RICE STUDENT seeks to increase student awareness in environmental sustainability issues so that students can become more involved with design decisions made about the buildings on the Rice campus. We organize visits to local LEED-rated buildings, conduct student surveys about living green, arrange for on-campus lectures by local architects or engineers who work with green building designs, and conduct a LEED Accreditation training course annually.

  • RICE WORLD AID ORGANIZATION aims to provide immediate relief and technology to better the lives of individuals both locally and internationally, while building a large-scale impact on the global community in terms of politics and invigorating the general public, especially the youth.
