Research Interests
- Research Fellow for the "Organization Factors in the Early Detection of HIV." Supervised by Prof. Oscar Grusky. Summer 2005-Summer 2006. Tasks include: interviews.
- Project Interviewer for the University of Minnesota American Mosaic Project, Summer 2004. Tasks include: Conducting in-depth interviews with targeted community leaders about American identity and the meaning of community.
- Project Researcher for "Organizational Factors in the Early Detection of HIV," under the supervision of Prof. Oscar Grusky and Prof. Robert Emerson. August 2002-2003. Tasks include: participant observation, recording fieldnotes, preparing site reports, interviewing.
Biography
Dr. Schilt received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California - Los Angeles in August 2006. Her dissertation, "Just One of the Guys? How Transmen Make Gender Visible in the Workplace," illustrated her profound interest in issues of Gender and Sexuality.
Over the years, Dr. Schilt has received numerous grants and awards, including several awards and nominations for awards honoring her ability as a teacher.
