What is the Database of Local Volunteer Opportunities?
The Community Involvement Center began organizing an agency database in an effort to increase the visibilty of volunteer opportunities to the students of Rice University community. To ensure that our volunteers receive the most up-to-date information, we've created this online form to allow you to inform us about changes in your agency.

The agency database is filled with opportunities from various organizations in the Houston Community. This directory is used when making volunteer referrals for Rice University students. It provides students with the information necessary to make an educated decision about their volunteer commitments. Unfortunately, many of the entries contain outdated information. Maybe your agency has moved, has a new volunteer coordinator, or offers more exciting opportunities than before. In order for students to find a volunteer position that is perfect for them, we need to have current information.

We want your organization to be represented in the agency database! Even if you believe that your agency is already correctly filed in the database, please take a few moments to complete the agency positions form below. Remember, there is no limit to the number of positions that you may include in the directory, but we ask that you list the individual positions and offer a summary of the description of responsibilities.

What is GIVE-A-HOOT?
GIVE-A-HOOT is the e-mail newsletter of the Community Involvement Center. It allows you to advertise for volunteers from the Rice community. For one time, short-term opportunities or internships, please send us the information for our newsletter. To submit an opportunity or announcement to GIVE-A-HOOT, please fill out an online submission or send us via e-mail a concise (4-5 line) paragraph giving all pertinent information (including who to contact for more information).
