O-Week Outreach Day
Since 1995, the Community Involvement Center has organized an Outreach
Day on the last day during New Student Orientation Week (O-Week).
Each year, more service projects are offered and more students participate.
In 1999, almost 400 students signed up for one of 25 service projects.
Volunteers helped to sort clothes at the Houston Area Women's Center
Second-to-None Retail Shop, cleaned-up at the Bering Omega AIDS
Hospice, worked on a house with the Campus Chapter of Habitat for
Humanity, painted at a homeless shelter, washed dogs at the Humane
Society, took a group of children to the Zoo, and many more fun
activities. Upperclass students can be involved by serving as site
leaders for the projects.
