PSYC 102

PSYC 101 is a large class, and although there will be some discussion, the size of the class does not allow for much discussion or exchange of ideas. For those students who are interested in having an opportunity to discuss some of the issues and controversies in modern psychology, we offer PSYC 102. This course typically has 10-15 students and will be run as a discussion. It meets for 90 minutes on Monday evenings, and has 1 credit. While you must be enrolled in PSYC 101 to sign up for PSYC 102, they are quite separate courses, with different assignments and grading policies. Usually the topics covered in PSYC 102 are not tightly coordinated with those in PSYC 101.

While assignments are likely to vary from meeting to meeting, there is typically a small amount of reading and often a short written assignment. Emphasis is, however, on discussion and debate. Students who have taken this course in the past have overwhelmingly found it valuable and fun in the best academic sense. It is a great opportunity for those of you who want a chance to dig a bit deeper into the major issues of modern psychology.

The instructor for PSYC 102 is Frank Tamborello (tambo@rice.edu) and the web page is https://owlspace-ccm.rice.edu/portal/site/PSYC-102-001-F06
