The Rice University South Asian Society is a student organization dedicated to spreading awareness of the cultures of South Asia. Membership is open to the entire student body, and the club holds various events and programs to share the South Asian experience with Rice University — and beyond.

Sept 19, 7:30 p.m.: Dhamaka sign-up meeting @ RMC Kelley Lounge

The Fundraising Committee raises ca$h for SAS events and shows by holding on-campus fundraisers, getting donations from the local community, and obtaining corporate sponsors.

The Campus Action committee promotes discussion of South Asian culture within SAS and the Rice community by inviting speakers, creating the SAS newsletter, and working with the administration to offer language and culture classes.

This year, the Community Service Committee will participate in Project Pumpkin in the fall semester and Spring Fling in the spring semester, two carnivals held on campus for underprivileged kids.

The Socials committee plans get-togethers such as movie nights, restaurant outings, and the spring Holi celebration.

The Sports committee coordinates SAS participation in intramural activities and tournaments.
