2/15/07 - The Spring Season is Here
After two tournaments two weekends in a row, the season is off to an exciting start. February 2-4 saw the team in San Luis Obispo
at Cal Poly playing against some skilled teams from the Pacific coast. With 1 win and 2 losses, the Owls took forth place. The next
weekend saw the Owls in New Orleans for the Tulane hosted Mardi Gras Coed Tournament. Then, coming up in only one more week,
the Women's Team has their first Texas Division Tournament just outside of Houston in Baytown. This will be the only Houston area
tournament this season.
Also, the schedule for the Women's Spring 2007 season has been updated, so go check out the games dates and times under the link "Game
Schedule" to the left.
4/26/06 - Rice to go to Nationals
After an undefeated season, Rice beat A&M in the final game of the championship tournament over the weekend to take the Texas Division. Now, for the
fourth year in row, the Women will be traveling to Nationals. Be rooting for us as we hed to Northwestern University in Illinois May 5-7 to take on
the winner of the Heartland Division.

4/24/06 - Men Awarded Top Academic Honors
The Rice Men were awarded Team as well as individual honors for their great academic work. Congrulations to the team for having the third highest GPA
in the CWPA, and also to the eleven men named for Athlete Honors.

4/12/06 - Jennifer Morton named Texas Division Player of the Week
Junior goalkeeper Jennifer Morton had an amazing weekend and quickly set the tone for the young Owls squad. Morton had 24 blocks including a penalty shot to help Rice
remain undefeated. She allowed only six goals during four games on her way to earning a shut-out, as well as two other games with only one goal allowed. Rice now heads
into the championship in the top seed.
2/12/06 - Rice Ranked Ninth in Country
As of the beginning of February, a pre-season poll for the Women's Collegiate Club Water Polo has Rice ranked ninth in the nation.
Cal Poly, Dartmouth, and Michigan State top out the list.
12/19/05 - Five All-Confernce Players for Rice
The CWPA announced its Men's Club All-Conference Players. Rice had five players named in the Texas Division:
Dave Lynch - 1st Team All-Conference
Dean Burke - 2nd Team All-Conference
Chris Ottolino - 2nd Team All-Conference
Nick Hambley - 2nd Team All-Conference
Luke Gilman - 2nd Team All-Conference
And Coach Dave Lee was awarded the Coach of the Year of the Award as well, congratulations to everyone!
11/22/05 - End of Season Awards
The annual end of season awards were announced this weekend. Congratulations to all the guys for a well fought and dedicated season:

11/1/05 - Rice Men Take Third in Texas
Despite two valiant efforts, the Rice men were forced to take third place in the Texas Division this year after a pair of
5-3 losses to Texas A&M and University of Texas, which was the fewest number of goals UT has scored in a game all year.
They won the third place game against University of Houston 13-9. For all the results, go to:

9/30/05 - Rice Men Travel to UC Davis Invitational
The guys traveled to Davis, California this weekend, fortunately on the same weekend as Hurricane Rita was scheduled to hit Houston.
The trip was well worth it, and the they went 2-2 on the weekend by defeating some very tough competition.
9/21/05 - Nick Hambley Awarded Texas Player of the Week
Nick led Rice University out of the gates with a 3-1 record in the Texas Division Opener. The sophomore led the team by scoring 22 goals for the weekend.
Rice defeated Texas A&M, Baylor, and the University of Houston. In each of these three games he scored at least four goals. In the one loss to
the University of Texas, Nick scored five of the teams eight goals.

9/17/05 - Rice Men Defeat Texas A&M
The Rice men's water polo team defeated Texas A&M for the first time in the club's history, pulling out a 9-8 lead in
their third game of the day at the Texas Division Regional Tournament in Baytown, TX. The game was a tight one, and
was not decided until the final seven seconds of the game when Chris Ottolino scored from the two-meter position. Nick Hambley led the
team in goals and Dave Lynch had an impressive showing at two-meter defense shutting down anything they threw at him.

6/16/05 - Rice Teams Awarded Academic Accolades
The members of the Rice Water Polo Club tore it up both in the classroom and in the pool this year, as the men's team tied for third highest GPA and
the women's team had the second highest GPA of all teams in the CWPA this year, and also had the highest of all teams to attend the National
Championships this year.

5/25/05 - Five Rice Women Awarded Conference and National Honors
Five players on the team received All-Conference awards for the Texas Division in 2005: junior Alex Woodruff, and seniors Julia Follick and Jess Schumer were named to the First Team while freshman Laura Timmerman and sophomore Jennifer Morton were named to the Second Team.
We give Coach Dave Lee honorary Coach of the Year, because everyone knows that he deserves it.
In addition, Jess was named to the Third All-American Team and Alex to the Second All-American Team. Alum Kelly Benedict also received Honorable Mention for her play at UVa this year. Congratulations to everyone!

5/9/05 - Owls Place Sixth at National Championships
At Texas A&M over the weekend, the Lady Owls placed higher than any Texas team before it, taking 2 wins and 2 losses for their sixth place finish.
They had wins against Cornell (10-2) and US Air Force Academy (10-5) and losses to eventual winner Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (4-11) and fifth place finisher MIT (6-8).
With the finish they ended up being ranked ninth in the nation for all club teams, and were the only previously unranked team to end up in the Top 20. What a finish to a stellar season!

4/26/05 - Rice to Face Cornell at NCCC

4/17/05 - Rice Women Take Texas
Three is our lucky number! The Rice Women's Water Polo team has won the Texas Division Championship for the third year in a row, capping off another successful season with a dominating win over Baylor 22-5. They move on to Nationals at Texas A&M on May 6-8. Come join Sammy the Owl in supporting the team at College Station on Friday, as they take on the winner of the New York Division!
4/14/05 - Jess Schumer named Texas Division Player of the Week
Jess Schumer, senior at Rice University, led the Owls to another victorious weekend at the Texas Division Regionals. Schumer tallied 11 goals, 11 steals, 7 assists, and 14 drawn ejections as Rice increased its undefeated win streak to 12 games. Schumer showed her versatility by splitting responsibilities at two-meter offense, defense, and attacker position throughout the weekend. The Owls dominated the tournament by scoring 63 goals while only allowing 13 goals.
12/1/04 - Chris Ottolino Awarded 2004 Conference Honors
Chris was honored with a First Team All-Conference selection for the Texas Division.

10/25/04 - Men's Team Places Third in Texas Division
The young Rice squad won a hard-fought game against Baylor by a score of 11-10, securing third place in the Texas Division this fall. Expect an experienced team next year, as the Owls did not have a single senior on the team, and are hoping to gain lots of playing time in the off-season.

5/5/04 - Rice takes 10th in 2004 Women's National Collegiate Club Championships
Rice University represented the CWPA Texas Division at the 2004 Women's National Collegiate Club Championships held at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA on April 30-May 2, 2004 and placed 10th overall.
