UPCOMING EVENTS

  Outreach Day - Saturday, TBA

Each semester RSVP coordinates a one day community plunge in which hundreds of Rice faculty and students work on community service projects throughout Houston. Day-long activities inform volunteers about the needs of the community, recruit them for long-term service, and strengthen the relationship between Rice and local service agencies. Since 1987, volunteers have repaired and repainted homes, sorted and boxed food, helped refurbish a shelter for children with AIDS, served meals in soup kitchens and built playgrounds in city parks. More than 500 Rice volunteers join forces with local service agencies to do meaningful and effective outreach work. It will be your duty along with two other team members to put this event together. GOOD LUCK!

Part I. Please rank the following three positions in order of preference:

Agency Contact – this coordinator is responsible for communicating with volunteer organizations about the when/where’s of the event, the number of volunteers the location can manage, etc.

Publicity Coordinator – this coordinator is responsible for publicity and working with the internal chair (Amishi Shah and the college representatives). This would also include hosting study breaks to sign people up and other innovative strategies you might employ.

Note: Additional responsibilities as a team:

- website sign-up and advertising (working with Elaine Chan our webmaster)
- organizing binder for next semester’s outreach day

Part II. Please answer the following questions:

1. How much time can you devote to coordinating Outreach Day each week?

2. In what other activities are you involved?

3. How are you involved with RSVP now, and what has been your previous involvement with RSVP?

If you are not selected as one of the coordinators, would you be willing to become a "Registration Manager"?

Yes No

The Registration Manager works closely with the Publicity Coordinator planning activities to increase volunteer sign-ups.
