Rice Networking Information

This is a clearing house of useful values for people setting up networking on Rice campus. I use the term resnet to describe the residential colleges network.

Resnet

The subnet's for resnet consist of:

• Baker: 128.42.152.
• Baker: 128.42.153.
• Brown: 128.42.154.
• Brown: 128.42.155.
• Hanszen: 128.42.156.
• Hanszen: 128.42.157.
• Jones North: 128.42.158.
• Jones South: 128.42.159.
• Lovett: 128.42.160.
• Lovett: 128.42.161.
• Sid: 128.42.162.
• Sid: 128.42.163.
• Wiess: 128.42.164.
• Wiess: 128.42.165.
• Will Rice New Dorm: 128.42.166.
• Will Rice Old Dorm: 128.42.167.
• Rice Graduate Apartments: 128.42.216.

Network and Netmask

To my knowledge, there aren't any subnetworked subnets at Rice, which makes everybody's netmask 255.255.255.0. Your network is just going to be the subnet that you belong to, with a 0 appended, i.e. at jones north it's 128.42.158.0.

Gateway

In resnet, you use your network.254, e.g. in jones north it's 128.42.158.254

DNS Servers

• Primary (resnet): your network.2, e.g. in jones north it's 128.42.158.2
• Secondary: 128.42.5.4
• Tertiary: 128.42.42.24
