It brought back many memories for me from just last year, when my school put it on, and I played Ko-Ko! It was amazing - so much was similar in the music and the staging (especially the way Kat and Mik entered through the audience in Act II). The biggest difference was that we couldn't convince enough guys to get involved for a full-blooded men's chorus, so it was nice to hear yours and imagine what we might have sounded like! A couple of my friends who'd been in the orchestra last year were online at the time, so they watched it too. They told me to tell you they loved it (and Pheebs, our percussionist, asked me to tell you to MIKE THE TIMPS! ;-) )! As well as our 'girly' men's chorus, we had a female Pooh-Bah, so Mr Yuhas yesterday was a delight. I LOVED the way he delivered "how-de-do little girls, how-de-do" (up to that point, I'd been uncomfortable with the American accents (never seen G&S done by Americans, believe it or not) but that line convinced me it wasn't all bad!). It's so remarkable all this modern technology, isn't it? It was an amazing experience to realise that the chorus you're singing along with is actually singing on the other side of the world! Well, apart from all the technical wizardry, it was a marvellous performance and you should all be very proud! Thanks for the experience! Cheers, |
