Assignment 1

Your first assignment, due Tuesday, January 23rd gets you started on your dissertation proposal.

You have two tasks:

Task 1

Write a one paragraph statement of your dissertation proposal.

The statement should indicate the question, its pedigree and why it is important.

Task 2

Identify two articles/books that are relevant to your paragraph.

The first article should be the most recent you can find that is

related to your statement (a 2001 article would be great).

The second article should be a "classic" and should give rise to

your statement.

Write one paragraph summarizing the importance of each book/article.

Write no more than one paragraph on each.
