Detailed Trip Descriptions
Surfing: Come Join ROPE for a day at the beach! We will be heading down to Surfside, Texas with our surfboards to catch some awesome waves! Surfside is truly a wonderful Texas coastal city; with miles of unspoiled shoreline, coastal marsh, rivers and bays, Surfside is the perfect retreat for a hard working city dweller. You will have the opportunity to surf, play beach games, and have an amazing time!
Horseback Riding: Come and join ROPE as we go horseback riding along the beach in Galveston, TX. We welcome both new and experienced riders of any age. We will bring along a few surfboards just in case the waves look inviting.
Coastal Fishing: Join ROPE’s in house fishing guru as we visit Christmas Bay in Surfside Beach, TX, one of many shallow, clear grass flat bays that run along the Texas coast. Possible catches include speckled trout, redfish, black drum, flounder, pinfish, croaker, mangrove snapper, lizardfish, stingrays and more. ROPE will provide bait but you must provide your own fishing pole and fishing license ($15).
Canoeing Armand Bayou: ROPE would love for you to join us on a relaxing trip to Armand Bayou! Just an hour away, Armand Bayou has an array of wildlife as well as beautiful natural surroundings. It's like paddling all afternoon while exploring "Planet Earth" up close and personal!
Wakeboarding: Come join ROPE as we go to Wake Nation for some fun on the water! You can choose between wakeboarding, waterskiing or kneeboarding. Beginner as well as experienced water sports enthusiasts are encouraged to come. Wake Nation utilizes a cable system to pull wakeboarders and waterskiers around the lake. It's going to be fun, be there!
Climbing Horseshoe Canyon Ranch: We will be heading to Horseshoe Canyon Ranch in Arkansas, one of the premier rock climbing locations in America. Rock climbing of all difficulty levels is available and there is no previous experience necessary-- all you need is an adventurous spirit! With high bluffs, tall trees, and a variety of wildlife, you can definitely find a peaceful feeling in this beautiful ranch.
Climbing at Reimer's Ranch: Join us for some amazing climbing and overnight camping in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Come prepared to cool off in the Pedernales River after a long day of scaling the beautiful sandstone walls of Reimer’s Ranch. This trip is designed for climbers of all experience levels, and we will set a variety of climbs--ranging from 5.5 to 5.10's--based on the experience level of trip participants.
Big Bend Backpacking: Come join ROPE on a winter break adventure to Big Bend! Sometimes considered three parks in one, Big Bend includes mountain, desert, and river environments. An hour's drive can take you from the banks of the Rio Grande (with Mexico right on the other side!) to a mountain basin nearly a mile high. You will experience unmatched sights, sounds, and solitude.
Skiing and Snowboarding: This is our second annual ski trip to Ruidoso, NM, home of Ski Apache. Ski Apache offers everything from multiple bunny slopes to terrain parks so there is sure to be a run for you. This trip includes 3 days skiing or snowboarding (rentals and lessons available), 4 nights in a cozy cabin, and a tour through the famous UFO Museum in Roswell, NM.
