Welcome to Rice Outdoor Programs and Education (ROPE), your source for all outdoor activities at Rice! In addition to organizing numerous weekend adventures for students and staff throughout the semester, ROPE also offers low-cost gear rentals and resources to support your personal outdoor pursuits. Get involved by becoming an Outdoor Trip Leader, participating in any of our outdoor trips, checking out our Facebook group, or by joining the ROPE listserv! Finally, don't hesitate to give us a call at (713) 348-4069 or stop by the Outdoor Adventure Center, Room 111 in the Gibbs Recreation Center.

Equipment Rentals
Visit the Outdoor Adventure Center where you can rent top of the line equipment for camping, backpacking, canoeing and kayaking. We have an educated staff on hand as well as maps and guidebooks to help you plan your next adventure. Ready to Rent?
Become a trip leader!
Join our dynamic team of student trip leaders. We hire volunteer trip leaders each fall who participate in a 1-year training process which includes outdoor skills and certifications. You will have the opportunity to lead Rice students, faculty and staff on various trips including rock climbing, kayaking, backpacking, sailing, caving, and more. Apply to be a trip leader today!
