Tennis

Each college should have a ten member team to compete against the other colleges. Players may participate in up to three events. However, they may not compete in the same event twice in the same game (e.g. a male student may only play ONE Men's Singles match).

The team captain needs to keep a record of:

  • Players that participated
  • ID #
  • Scores of the matches (ie. 6-2, 6-4 [not 2-0])

Please submit scores to the IMS office as soon as possible by calling (713) 348-2739, or use our on-line score result form.

Match structure: The team captain will determine which players will play in the match slots. A college vs college match will consist of: 2 Men's Singles, 2 Women's Singles, 1 Men's Doubles, 1 Women's Doubles and 1 Mixed Doubles. Matches and their participant must be declared before the first match begins.

Scoring: The winner of each match will receive 1 point. A match will consist of the best 2 out of 3 games. If a college does not fill given slots with eligible participants and their opponent college does than the opponent college will receive the point(s) for that match(es). In the case of a tie, individual game points will be used to determine the winner. Each team should bring fresh cans of tennis balls. The equipment room has tennis balls that you may check out.

Play-by Dates are listed below for each match. If either team is unable to play during the scheduled times, they must reschedule with their opponent and complete their match within that week's Play-by dates. Courts will need to be reserved with the Operations Desk for any rescheduled matches!

All final decisions to eligibility rules will be at the discretion of the Intramural Director and/or Intramural Coordinator.
