When can I swim?
Lap swim and Rec Swim are the times that any Rec Center member can use
the pool. All Rice students, faculty and staff are Rec Center members.

Aqua fit / Aqua aerobics is a group fitness class that is open to all Rec Center members who purchase a group fitness pass (at operations desk). The class is offered MWF 11 a.m.-12 p.m.
What do I need to do to use the pool?
First, check in at the operations desk, swipe your ID and ask for a 'fish card'. Change
in the locker rooms and shower off before entering the pool area. When you enter the pool
area give the fish card to the lifeguard. The fish card shows the lifeguard that you
checked in at the front desk. Enjoy the pool!
What temperature is the pool kept at?
The pool is heated to 82 degrees Fahrenheit. The pool temperature is lowered
for Rice Women's home swim meets, several days before the event, to 79-80 degrees.
What equipment can I use on the pool deck?
The Rec Center provides patrons with kickboards and pull buoys to use. Please return pool
equipment to the shelves after use. All of equipment on deck is for special programs such
as learn to swim, aqua aerobics, and academic classes.
How do I sign up for swimming lessons?
You can sign up by following this link.
Registration is now completely online. Registration is required before the first
class. Swim lessons are taught year-round with fall, spring, and summer sessions.
