- Samuel Sok

Samuel Sok has been chosen to attend the Olympic program F.L.A.M.E. (Finding Leaders Among Minorities Everywhere). Samuel was one of thirty students from across the country chosen by the U.S. Olympic Committee.

Matt Jones was selected to represent the Western region for the Western Rugby Union and will compete November 7, 2009 for the chance to play on the national team.
- AJ Beard & The Texas Showdown

The Assistant Director for Fitness Programs, AJ BEARD, and her Ultimate Team "Texas Showdown" has won the South Region of the UPA (Ultimate players association) and will compete at the National Championships over Halloween weekend.

Mauro Hamza has been named the one of the Coaches for the U.S. National Fencing Team.

- Big Ranch Dance Festival

Assistant Director for Dance Programs Leslie Scates Choreographed a piece for the Big Ranch Dance Festival in June of 2009. Three Rice Students (Alice Chi, Aaron Robson, and Michael Slovich) performed the dance.
