Documenting Electronic Sources
The Internet has become a valuable communication and research
tool for many people in many fields. While there is much information
available free on the world wide web, it is still important
to give the right people credit when you use information found
on their web site. It is important to document these sources
within your paper as well. You not only want to document information
acquired at a particular web site, but what you received in
an amyl or read on a list serve or Internet bulletin board or
chat room must also be documented.
When researching on
the Internet, on top of recording information you find,
you must also be careful to either record what web addresses
(or URLs) you use, or bookmark them so you can easily return
to find this information. All three styles discussed above have
developed ways for documenting various electronic sources within
your paper.
