HASH

HASH is a working group for historians, graduate students, and other scholars in the Houston area who are interested in the study of the Americas.

Since 1988, HASH meetings have been held two or three times per semester. Historians from Rice University, the University of Houston, the University of St. Thomas, the University of Houston—Clear Lake, the University of Houston—Downtown, Texas Southern University, Sam Houston State University, Texas A&M University, and other area institutions gather to discuss a paper in progress. Originally conceived for scholars of the U.S. South, the seminar has broadened its focus to welcome work in the history of both North and South America. Time periods and specific topics will vary.

Copies of each paper are distributed via email well in advance of the meeting in order to allow the time together to be used for discussion. If you are interested in presenting a paper, you may contact the organizers below. To add your name to the mailing list, go to https://mailman.rice.edu/mailman/listinfo/hash.
