Shamanism and Entoptics

Most hunter-gatherer societies have shamans or medicine-men. Shamans enter trance in order to perform various tasks in the spirit world; the rock art resulting from such experiences can be considered 'shamanic' and fundamentally religious in nature. Such art is usually vastly different from farmer and pastoralist art, also found all over the world. Below are just two overviews on the subject of shamanism.
