Solitary Sandpiper
Tringa solitaria
"As its name suggests, this sandpiper is often
seen alone or in small loose groups in its habitat of fresh water
lakes, ponds, marshes, and rivers. This shorebird is not wary
around humans and often exhibits an up-and-down bobbing or jerking
motion of its head and body ... In flight the dark rump patch
and central tail feathers contrast with the white outer tail
feathers, which have black
bars."
