Orchard Oriole

Icterus spurius

I want to thank 7 members of the TX-ORNITHOLOGY list for unanimously identifying this bird for me as an Orchard Oriole.

"Uncommon in scrubby woods and hedgerows with isolated tall trees. Solitary or in small groups." (The Sibley Field Guide to Birds of Eastern North America, p. 394)

This is a first summer male.

This is a view from behind.

Contast this with the Dickcissel & the Great-Crested Flycatcher .
