The Vice President has administrative responsibility for academic and non-academic affairs affecting students that do not fall specifically under one of the academic divisional deans. His office is the clearing house for the Committee on Examinations and Standing which considers student's requests for exceptions to the academic regulations. The Vice President is the liaison between the College Masters and the President of the University. The Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs and Director of International Education, Mark Scheid, is also located in this office; he administers study abroad and other international programs. Notary public services are available in this office without fee.

The Assistant Dean is responsible for the administration of all student discipline, including disciplinary suspension and Honor Code violations.


The Office of Academic Advising

This office coordinates academic advising in the Colleges and the departments. It administers tutorial programs, scholarships and fellowships, pre-law, premed, and pre- business advising.

Has responsibility for student organizations including the Student Association and the
Graduate Student Association. Also handles inquiries about facilities use, registration

The residential colleges house undergraduate students on campus and are self- governing entities. Each College has Masters who live in a residence adjacent to the College. Each college also has a college office staffed by the college coordinator.

career fairs. Also maintains a library containing resources and literature on careers in
many areas. Coordinates the Joint Venture Internship Program with various Houston

Health Education Office

Offers a variety of services related to student health and safety, including sexual health
awareness, substance abuse prevention, nutrition and diet, and acquaintance rape issues.


Community Involvement Center

Coordinates volunteer activities and involvement in the Rice and Houston communities.


Rice Memorial Center/Ley Student Center
