Session 5 (02/01)

SLOW SPACE/STILLNESS

The Source. The I. The Destination.

Opening with Fragments

Moving to Collage.

How to collage with technology?

Many I's envisioned the collage creation,

their minds

    their voices

      shuttering.

The Process

camera,video, still, moving, music......

layer upon layer the vision grew

Each I projecting its vision.

A Cresendo: the Process, the I.

The process antagonized the I when

Quick, as a breath in gasp

    a flash of introspection

a labor not ripe for birth

The process falls into fragments.

The I's cradle as newborn ones

Not yet ready to run,

It's parts still larger than it's whole.

The process

    technology

      and Time.

I had approached this wishing to explore the reduction of the world around me from four dimensions to three: a flat image modulating through time.

Oddly enough, I find that the germ of my project is a two dimensional image. A fragment of life past, hardly remembered, frozen out of context. Now I wish to restore it, to add the two missing dimensions back, and to understand its place in the river of the fourth dimension Ð time. I with to re-contextualize it, to restore its resolution, to resolve something for myself.
