Session 4 (01/28)

MIGRATION : SLOW SPACE

1. migration as movement from one place and condition to another.

the time of arrival is not the time of departure, and memory of what was lingers in the bones and the circulatory systems of the body.

what was is the photograph of the moment captured and frozen.

2. the movement prevents the freezing point.

  • the frozen image dies after the arrival or is preserved and subject to climate and pressure and decay, or frequent use.

the more frequently you use or forget a memory the more often you must make up for its degeneration, its lack or the missing parts of the film.

  • movement is film

the images replace one another, like water that runs steadily in a river from one end (source) to another (destination)

  • the digital image is frozen water, it has crystalline structure.

3. the birds on the seashore cry, as they tumble in the setting sun. they are hungry and flock around humans that appear to look at something that is not there.
