Company Activities

The Rice NROTC unit is an active company, offering many opportunities for professional development in the form of:

Physical Training (two-three times per week) - keeping in shape by running and exercising.

Drill/Lab period (weekly) - general military training, administrative functions, announcements, planning, and guest speakers.

Fundraisers (occasionally) - raising funds for unit events by working concessions at the Toyota Center.

Color Guard Events (occasionally) - provide the services of our Color Guard to various local events.

Navy/Marine Corps Birthday Ball (Fall) - celebrating the birthday of the United States Navy and Marine Corps with a formal ceremony and dining event.

Dining In (Spring) - a "mess night," crystallizing a centuries-old tradition.

Pentathlon (once per semester) - sporting and drill competition between the local ROTC units.

JROTC Drill Meets (occasionally) - as a unit, we host the Area 10 Drill Competition in the Spring as well as send personnel to staff those of other organizations, including Prairie View's.

Platoon Weekends (occasionally) - each platoon's time to develop camraderie by selecting a fun event to do.

Special Opportunities/Tours (occasionally) - nuclear power plant tours, tours of Navy submarines and ships, chances to speak with junior officers and their commanding officers, trips to run field exercises and obstacle courses, etc
