Greetings!  As Professor of Clarinet at the Shepherd School of Music, I’m privileged to witness daily the growth of some of the most talented wind players studying anywhere today.  Our wind studios are very
small, very selective, and very collegial, reflecting the atmosphere created by a closely-knit faculty who enjoy performing together at Rice on a regular basis.  Our school is known for providing unparalleled orchestral training for all instrumental students, as well as a highly organized chamber music program.

An ethnically diverse and culturally vibrant city, Houston boasts the renowned Houston Symphony, Houston Grand Opera, and Houston Ballet, as well as several wonderful art museums and many galleries.

Numerous world-class soloists and chamber musicians visit our campus each year, and our studio regularly welcomes internationally known orchestral principal players and soloists such as Karl Leister, Richard Stoltzman, David Campbell, and Steve Williamson for master classes. The links on this site will acquaint you with my performing and teaching career, describe the activities of the Shepherd School Clarinet Studio and distinguished students, and offer information about my compositions, arrangements, articles, and educational outreach through the Houston Youth Symphony.  Thanks for your visit.
