PERFORMING ARTS MEDICINE DAY INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION
The
Shepherd School of Music in collaboration with the Methodist Center for Performing Arts Medicine will offer an all-day symposium on medical issues affecting performing musicians. Physicians with expertise in treating music related injuries will discuss injury prevention and treatments.
Although this event is offered free of charge, registration is required
All Day Event, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Topics to be included:
- Preventing problems related to repetitive movement
- Music and the brain
- Anatomy, physiology and care of the voice
- Nutrition
- Overcoming psychological challenges related to performing
Participating physicians and Shepherd School faculty members will join in a panel discussion at the end of the day. The symposium will be directed toward music students, parents of young musicians, educators, and recreational and professional musicians.
