FACULTY STUDIOS
Faculty
studios are designed for the best sound quality possible in a space
large enough for chamber music coaching and studio classes. Ceilings
are twelve feet, floors are wood parquet or carpet, air conditioning
ducts are silenced, and bi-level natural-color fluorescent lighting
is installed with remote ballasts to avoid the annoying hum. Solid
concrete walls and substantial doors complete the sound isolation.
Every studio has big windows, and many include computers, audio
equipment, and grand pianos.
Individual faculty members make the rooms "their own"
by bringing in artwork, rugs, and upholstered or antique furniture
in addition to their office furniture.
