SCOTT HOLSHOUSER has been the keyboardist for the Houston Symphony since 1980. He is also the accompanist for the Houston Symphony Chorus. He began his musical training in Athens, Georgia, with Ina Gerchefski. While attending Florida State University, he studied with Leonard Mastrogiacomo and continued his musical studies in Houston with celebrated pianist Abbey Simon.
Mr. Holshouser's solo appearances have included performances with the symphonies of Dallas, Atlanta, and Stavanger, Norway. As soloist with the Houston Symphony, he has performed Mozart Concerti, Schubert's Fantasie in F Minor (a piano duet with Christoph Eschenbach), and, on four occasions, Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. In addition, he performed Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini and the Beethoven Triple Concerto. He has been a staff pianist with the Houston Ballet and Houston Grand Opera, and serves as a staff accompanist with the Corpus Christi and Ima Hogg National Auditions. He has also recorded a compact disc of violin and piano music with British violinist Pip Clarke.
