Musicology Symposium: Intersections of Opera and Film

Four leading musicologists speak on the fascinating relationships between opera and film, including the status of the voice, the role of operatic elements in film, and the influence of cinema on live opera.

Featured films are Callas Forever and the Godfather trilogy, and the operas Quiet Place and Cavalleria rusticana. The speakers include the following: Jeongwon Joe, University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music; Michal Grover-Friedlander, Tel Aviv University; Marcia J. Citron, Shepherd School of Music; and Helen M. Greenwald, New England Conservatory of Music.
